Brock Laing

Corporate Director of Technology

 

Brock’s role is to support the IT and Audiovisual infrastructure for Columbia’s team members and all of its properties. Brock partners with the property leaders for support and recommendations on technology related projects and issues. He provides leadership and oversees all of the Technology Managers and staff throughout the organization.

Brock brings over ten years of experience in audio/video systems and information technology to Columbia. Brock joined Columbia in 2004 as the Technology Manager at the Cedarbrook Conference Center. He then went on to open several properties and has consulted on many other projects. Brock was promoted to Corporate Technology Director in 2006.

Prior to joining Columbia, Brock was a New Media Engineer with Loudeye in Seattle. He supported the sales team with technical information and inquiries and acted as technological liaison for the producers during onsite productions. He was responsible for maintaining all audio/video systems and streaming media encoders.

Before that, Brock was a broadcast engineer with Activate where his group oversaw the build-out and transition to operation of the largest streaming media facility on the west coast. Brock holds a Bachelor of Arts in Technology Management from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. He also serves on the Technical Advisory committee for Information Technology at Seattle Central Community College and is an active member of the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals.
